About us

What started as a casual winter project in 2025 gradually turned into something we never expected. We started buying and selling old furniture because we enjoyed the hunt, appreciated the craftsmanship, and liked seeing well-made pieces find a new home. By the spring of 2026, what started as a hobby had grown into our full-time business.

We now specialize in carefully selected antique and vintage furniture, full of character and history. Rather than making every piece look brand new, we focus on preserving what makes it unique. Honest wear, rich patina, and signs of a well-lived life aren’t flaws to us - they’re part of each piece’s story.

Rebeca is from Costa Rica, where we were married in 2020. After spending the first five years of our marriage there, we returned to Mitch's hometown in New England, where we’re now raising our two daughters and building Swallowtail Furnishings together.

Whether you’re searching for a statement antique or simply a piece with warmth and character, we hope you find something you’ll enjoy for years to come.

Thank you for supporting our family business, and God bless!

The Swallowtail story

People often ask where the name Swallowtail Furnishings came from.

As a child, I remember seeing Swallow-Tailed Kites on family trips to Florida. They’re beautiful birds, and because they’re seen only occasionally, every sighting felt special. What always stood out to me was how effortlessly they moved through the air - they seemed to catch the breeze without fighting it, soaring with a kind of grace and freedom that left a lasting impression on me.

Years later, after putting my faith in Jesus Christ, that image of the Swallowtail took on a much deeper meaning.

The greatest freedom I’ve ever known isn’t the freedom to go wherever I want or do whatever I please. It’s the freedom that Jesus offers - forgiveness for my sins, freedom from shame and my past, and the hope of eternal life through His death and resurrection. Scripture says, “Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom” (2 Corinthians 3:17). As someone who trusts in Christ, I believe His Spirit is with me wherever I go, and that freedom is something I carry with me every day - something that impacts every aspect of my life, including my business.

Whether or not you share my faith, I’m grateful you stopped by. I hope you’ll find a piece of furniture you’ll love, and above all, I hope you’ll come to know the same freedom I have found in Christ.

- Mitch

Frequently asked questions

Delivery
Purchasing & Inventory

Q: Do you offer delivery?

A: Yes. Local delivery is available for an additional fee based on distance. Delivery includes bringing the piece into your home whenever possible.

Q: Can I pick up my furniture?

A: Absolutely. Pickup is available by appointment in Littleton, Massachusetts.

Q: Do you hold furniture?

A: We can usually hold a piece for a short time with a deposit. Feel free to reach out to discuss your situation.

Q: How often do you add new inventory?

A: New pieces arrive regularly, often several each week. Follow us on Facebook Marketplace or Instagram to see the latest arrivals.

Q: Can you source a specific piece for me?

A: Yes! If you’re looking for a particular style, size, or type of furniture, let us know and we'll keep an eye out.

Restoration

Q: Are all pieces fully refinished?

A: Not always. Some pieces are completely refinished, while others receive careful restoration, or in some cases only light refreshing. Each piece is unique.

Q: Why do some pieces have small imperfections?

A: Many of the pieces we sell are decades old. Minor dents, scratches, and signs of age are part of their history and add to their character. Significant damage is repaired while preserving the integrity of the piece.

Care

Q: What finish do you use?

A: Finishes vary depending on the piece, but every finish is selected to enhance the wood’s natural beauty while providing long-lasting protection.

Q: How should I care for my furniture?

A: Dust with a soft cloth, wipe up spills promptly, and avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight or excessive moisture. Harsh chemical cleaners should be avoided.

*We recommend applying a light coat of natural beeswax every 6-12 months to help protect the finish, enrich the wood's natural beauty, and maintain a soft, low-sheen luster. It's a simple way to keep your piece looking its best while extending the life of the finish.

General

Q: Do you accept returns?
A: Because each piece is one of a kind and often antique or vintage, all sales are final.
